Former Bank Stalwart Joins The Fai Home Loan Team

Newcastle Herald

Friday April 30, 1999

TONY Gibson, after 34 years in the finance industry, has joined the FAI Home Loan team. His area of responsibility is the Hunter and Central Coast.

Born and bred in Cessnock, Tony joined a major bank and started work at Kurri Kurri.

From there he was quickly transferred to the Sydney area and even spent several years overseas for the bank. He returned to the Hunter in 1989 in a senior management role.

Because of his long experience with both the personal and small business markets, Tony is multi-skilled in financial experience and can easily tailor a financial package to borrowers' requirements.

He is well involved in local community activities, being a director of the regional board of the House With No Steps, and treasurer of Valentine Eleebana Soccer Club.

He holds the office of Justice of the Peace and is a life member and fellow of the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance.

His wife, Amanda, works for the Hunter Water Corporation, while his two sons play basketball for the Lake Macquarie Lightnings under-16 side.

This month he was a proud parent at Newcastle University, watching see his daughter graduate as a Bachelor of Nursing.

`Most home loan borrowers are naive when it comes to the mechanics of property buying and in the unfamiliar and foreboding environment of a bank manager's office, tend to clam up and not ask the right questions,' Tony said.

`I call on them in their own home and find they are more relaxed. In familiar surroundings, in easy understandable steps we go through the process of applying for a loan to either buy a property or just to refinance an existing loan.'
